If there was ever an example of the power of psychological triggers it is the recent Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme. In Madoff's scheme he used the trigger of scarcity and liking two of the most powerful to get people to invest with him. THE GAME:FEEL LIKE YOU'VE BEEN HIT OVER THE HEAD

Have you ever seen the movie, The Game? It has Michael Douglas and Sean Penn in it. Douglas is this powerful investment banker who gets a birthday gift from his brother to play this immersive game where all sorts of unexpected things happen to you. In one part of the game. Douglas" character is knocked out, his money is taken and he wakes up in a ditch south of the border. He has to figure out how to get back to his home in the Bay area of California somehow. He ends up having to beg at a truck stop for a ride back to the U.S. and trade his Rolex for cash.

What's the point of all this? Well, doesn't it sometimes feel like this in your business! Doesn't it sometimes feel like you've been dumped on the side of the road with nothing to show for all your efforts and the money you've spent? You are promised one kind of experience and then get something you totally didn't bargain for. You have to then figure out how to make it back to somewhere safe and familiar.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR BRAIN TO OVERCOME OBSTACLES

The Navy Seals have studied how to train their recruits to overcome obstacles and how to handle the normal stress responses. They have done this as a way to help recruits who are close to passing one of their most challenging underwater stress tests. The test involves essentially fighting or engaging in a difficult task while holding your breath for an extended time underwater. The brain's normal response is to either gasp for air or to panic and or surface. What the SEALS have found is that by preparing recruits, and their brains essentially, for how to respond in this situation they can vastly improve the success rate for recruits in this phase of training. The fours areas of training the brain involve:

1. Planning-The frontal lobe of the brain is involved here and what they do is train you in planning for the various circumstances you could face.

2. Rehearsing-This involves actually going through some of the motions and movements that will be involved in the test.

3.Self-Talk-Teaching recruits to talk themselves through the stressful situation.

4.Arousal control-Training recruits to stop or limit the natural stress and emotional responses.

Let's look back a few years. Remember the days when if you simply had a pulse you could get a mortgage loan? Remember the days when your house's value went up by at least 10 percent each year. I sure do. It was less than 2 years ago.

I definitely benefited from those days both as a mortgage professional on the side and as a borrower. I started several of my business ventures with mortgage money. Well as we all know those days are gone--forever. Never to return, not even people with excellent credit can get those kinds of deals anymore.

Since my last utter on the state of the economy it has become even more abundantly clear that the U.S. will lose the equivalent of one of the Big 3 U.S. automakers. What does this mean. It means that anywhere from 500,000 to 5 million people will be out of work sometime over the next 1 to 3 years in the U.S. due to all of the suppliers and other people who rely on the industry for their employment.

What does this mean for the U.S.? If you don't have the skills to organize others to sell and market services of value to people and businesses you will not be employed or employable nor will you be able to make it as an entrepreneur.

The Economy of the Future

I've given this a great deal of thought in recent days and weeks due to severe economic crisis we are all in I am sure I am not the only one. My qualifications: I have a BA and masters in both International studies and economics and Public Finance, worked at the White House Budget office for two years and am a business and have been an economic development consultant for the last 4 years as well as an internet marketer. I also have been in the mortgage and real estate investment business.

The economy of the future will essentially be one of the survival of the fittest. The only secure employer will essentially be the federal government or government contractors. The health care industry, high-tech manufacturing, energy, IT services, education and security-related professions and the like will be the only growth industries. Any profession associated with consumer spending, finance or investment will be in severe decline. In terms of entrepreneurship, industries associated with the growth industries mentioned above will be well if their marketing and distribution costs are efficient. Industries that save businesses money or help businesses to be more efficient will do well.

MLM type opportunities will suffer since most of these are tied to consumer products and spending. Furthermore, it will be increasingly difficult for new recruits to finance expenditures since many people have used credit cards to fund their mlm businesses.

The best opportunities for entrepreneurs will be those with low up front costs, low marketing costs (use of social networking and internet tools are ideal for this) and have a high profit margin. Products and services that allow for profit per sale of at least $1,000 are ideal. Why? In order to live most anywhere in the US takes at least $3,000 per month even for a single individual so an opportunity that would allow for that type of income is best.

Will everyone succeed given the new economic climate? Unfortunately no they won't. In fact many who have never had an entrepreneurial mindset will have to be retrained. When I say retrained I ma mostly talking about their mindset which will have to be converted from an employee's mindset to that of someone who is responsible for their own welfare and well-being. For most people a radical departure. For these individuals, they will need an entrepreneurial opportunity which both retrains their mindset and gives them a business service that meets their financial needs and a system to sell it successfully. I know this is a lengthy utter but I think people need to be prepared for their economic future and what it holds in store for them.

Internet Marketers, Let's Be Honest

Let's be honest, there are a million of us internet marketers out there right now, all promising that our particular opportunity is the one that will make our prospects a six figure income etc. etc. We're all basically bumping into each other on Facebook, Twitter, Ezinearticles and YouTube. Let's be honest how is a prospect really supposed to tell the difference between all these opportunities? My contention is that we must be honest with folks and tell them that there are no overnight successes in this business. It took me several months before I made a dime doing this. All in all only small percentage of folks make it at most any kind of business. What we can over is a valuable education quite honestly. What Do Wal-Mart and a Successful Internet Marketing Business Have in Common?

As we all know the retailer Wal-Mart, the world’s largest, is noted for saving people money and dominating any market it enters. As you may or may not be aware, a couple of years ago Wal-Mart wanted to enter the banking sector. Banks opposed this move because they feared the competition Wal-Mart would bring to their industry and they successfully fought any efforts by Wal-Mart to enter their protected and at the time, profitable turf. Well, this still doesn’t answer the question of why Wal-Mart is a perfect model for a successful internet business.

Wal-Mart is known for selling everything from toothpaste to T-bones, from televisions to the largest in-store television network. From bicycle tires to S.U.V. tires, Wal-Mart has it all basically your internet business must to some degree mimic this attribute. I am not saying you should be all things to all people but you have to have sufficient content in different online platforms such that people can stay in your “store” to get or be directed to what they want.

Now where I think you need to discontinue being like Wal-Mart is that your web presence can not be cluttered. Wal-Mart is also known for having clogged aisles and congestion at the checkout counter. In terms of aesthetics and efficiency, the retailer Target far surpasses Wal-Mart. They may not be as dominant a player as Wal-Mart but Target definitely has a coolness factor going for it. Your internet business should have the same. I am not saying flashy graphics is all there is to this, after all, Craigslist is quite simple in terms of interface but is extremely user-friendly and understated and is one of the most visited websites on the internet.

So, what I am saying is that you need to have lots of content (like Wal-Mart) and have it organized (like Target). In doing this, you will be very successful in your online business endeavor, no matter what you are selling.
